Students will first explore how TikTok and Youtube algorithms can recommend videos which purposefully push radical views, from misogyny to extreme religion and more, to people who did not intentially search for such content, and discover how people can fall down radical rabbit-holes. They will examine the 'frog in a pot' anology to show how extremist views can take such a stronghold on people. Students will then explore the political spectrum to discover what we mean when we talk about far right, far left and religious extremism, comparing these to sensible left of centre, right of centre and moderate religious views.
